Teenagers face unique challenges that impact their mental health and well-being. They are experiencing major physical and emotional changes while navigating increased independence. Our therapists are skilled in engaging teens and supporting them in being active participants in the therapeutic process. We integrate a variety of therapeutic interventions based on the specific needs of your adolescent.

Attachment-based/Relational therapy

Attachment-based/Relational therapy

A process-oriented form of therapy, focused primarily on building a strong therapeutic relationship and centers on safely expressing emotions. For teens who have experienced loss, grief, or relational trauma or abuse, this type of therapy can be very helpful.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

This form of therapy helps teens identify harmful thought patterns and make connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors leading to greater problem-solving, self control and coping. CBT is an effective treatment for depression, anxiety and trauma. 

Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT)

Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT)

A structured therapy approach that focuses on a the individual's ability to make sense of their own minds and the minds of others. This form of therapy builds self-awareness and perspective taking leading to improved relational skills and self-control.

Expressive Therapy

Expressive Therapy

Even as a teen matures and gains independence, expressing and understanding emotions can still feel overwhelming. Expressive techniques integrate art, music, writing and other non verbal techniques to facilitate emotional exploration, self awareness, self control and emotional regulation.

Family Therapy

Family Therapy

Sometimes it is beneficial for a teen to participate in family therapy with their caregivers or siblings. The goal of family therapy is to gain insight and awareness of difficult communication patterns and ways of relating to each other. Learning new relational skills can decrease anger and conflict in the home.
